Sorry – No Free KFC Kentucky Grilled Chicken Dinner For You
The misses and myself finally decided to redeem our coupons for a free KFC Grilled Chicken a day before the coupon was to expire. The coupon was originally mentioned by Oprah Winfrey (not that I’m admitting to watching Oprah) and I guess the response was so overwhelming that instead of providing us with our free meal, we were given a form to request a rain check. WTF?
Blue Palm Pools in Phoenix Arizona
After spending countless weekends brushing and sweeping my parent’s pool as a child, I promised myself that I’d never own a swimming pool. I felt they required too much work. That changed a few years ago when we put in a pool.
What changed in my thinking? Unlike the pool of my youth, this one was self-cleaning and self chlorinating. In other words, it is virtually maintenance free… well almost.
Midwest Skiing Destination – Chestnut Mountain Resort
While I have water skied many times, I have yet to experience the thrills of snow skiing. If and when that day comes, one of the places I will certainly keep on my list of “places to visit” will be Chestnut Mountain Resort.
Located in Galena Illinois, Chestnut Mountain has become a premier Midwest skiing destination with its nineteen trails that span 220 rolling acres with a total vertical drop of 475 feet.
Kensington Park Hotel – San Francisco
There are many places to stay while visiting San Francisco. Depending on where you want to stay – Union Square, Fisherman’s Wharf, Nob Hill, or any other of the various districts and neighborhoods, hotels, motels and resorts are in abundance. One of our favorites is a small boutique hotel located adjacent to Union Square called [...]
Mona Lisa Restaurant – San Francisco
Having been to San Francisco five times now, one of my favorite pleasures is visiting the fine Italian eateries located in the North Beach neighborhood. Having already experienced restaurants such as The Stinking Rose, Trattoria Pinocchio and others, the wife and I decided to try one we have yet to experience in our past visits. [...]
Top 5 Superbowl Ads for 2009 (Personal Picks)
It’s that time of the year again – Superbowl 43 has decided its winner and people are voting on their favorite (or least favorite) Superbowl commercials. While I thought that most of them were unappealing or just outright stupid, there were a handful that turned out to be pretty enetertaining.
With that I give you my personal top 5 picks.
Busy People Turning To Online Degrees To Further Education
In our busy lives, time is becoming more and more a precious resource. After juggling work, marital responsibilities, managing a home, kid’s activities and hobbies or interests, there is little time left in each day.
So if you are looking to further your education and obtain some kind of college degree, what is the best way to fit that into a busy schedule? The answer is online degrees.
Bravo TV Sucks!
If you are looking to watch a good movie on commercial-driven television, avoid Bravo unless you want to see just about equal time of commercials as you are viewing the movie itself. Watching a recent airing of the 1995 film “Heat” starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pachino, I literally watched 6 minutes of film compared to 5 minutes of commercials. Add to my negative experience the fact the majority of commercials were for their own shows and were shown over and over and over again.
Don’t Like Property Taxes? Pay Them In Coins
If you are like me and absolutely despise real estate property taxes, why not protest by paying them with coins? That is what one Floyd County man did when he had to pay over $21,000 in property taxes. He paid it with coins – Susan B. Anthony dollar coins to be exact. Frank Alford, who [...]
Boycotting Chrysler and General Motors
The federal government announced Friday that it will help Detroit’s ailing automakers survive at least another few months by offering $17.4 billion in rescue loans in exchange for concessions from carmakers and their workers. $9.4 billion is allocated for General Motors and $4 billion for Chrysler. An additional $4 billion will be made available to [...]
