Bravo TV Sucks!

If you are looking to watch a good movie on commercial-driven television, avoid Bravo unless you want to see just about equal time of commercials as you are viewing the movie itself. Watching a recent airing of the 1995 film “Heat” starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pachino, I literally watched 6 minutes of film compared to 5 minutes of commercials. Add to my negative experience the fact the majority of commercials were for their own shows and were shown over and over and over again.

Don’t Like Property Taxes? Pay Them In Coins

If you are like me and absolutely despise real estate property taxes, why not protest by paying them with coins? That is what one Floyd County man did when he had to pay over $21,000 in property taxes. He paid it with coins – Susan B. Anthony dollar coins to be exact. Frank Alford, who [...]

The federal government announced Friday that it will help Detroit’s ailing automakers survive at least another few months by offering $17.4 billion in rescue loans in exchange for concessions from carmakers and their workers. $9.4 billion is allocated for General Motors and $4 billion for Chrysler. I am a long time Netflix subscriber and consider myself to be a brand evangelist (just see the post prior to this one). Canyon Blaster Roller Coaster

While in Las Vegas recently on business, I had the opportunity to ride Canyon Blaster, an Arrow built double looping coaster that sits inside the Adventuredome at Circus Circus. I assumed the coaster would provide a rough and un-exhilarating ride. However the opposite was true.

While recently in Las Vegas on business and being the coaster enthusiast that I am, I took the opportunity to ride two of the three roller coasters that are located on the strip. The Manhattan Express is one such coaster and can be found at the New York, New York hotel and casino. At $14 [...]

Real Estate Property Taxes – Just Not Fair

I just received my annual property tax bill and man am I annoyed. Why should I have to pay taxes on a property that I own? I know that some of our property taxes go to fund education which we need, however all of my kids are out of school. I also am aware that [...]

I Hate Home Owners Associations (HOAs)

There are some benefits to belonging to an HOA (Home Owner’s Association) but often the benefits are overshadowed but the negative aspects of HOAs wielding too much control over homeowners. I live in Anthem, Arizona, one of the best planned master communities in the country and a wonderful place to live I might add, however [...]

Blue Palm Pools Is Awesome

After spending countless weekends brushing and sweeping my parent’s pool as a young child, I vowed to never own a swimming pool myself. They are just too much work. That changed a few years ago when we put in a pool. What changed in my thinking? Unlike the pool of my youth, this one was [...]
