I am a long time Netflix subscriber and consider myself to be a brand evangelist (just see the post prior to this one). However I am having an increasingly difficult time convincing my wife to keep our Netflix account open as opposed to switching to RedBox. She argues that RedBox is much more conveinent and I argue that their selection is limited and using them could end up costing a lot more than Netflix, depending opn the volume of DVDs we rent and whether we return on time or not.

When I viewed my Netflix queue today, it didn’t make my defense of NetFlix any easier. See for yourself.

My top 6 choices all have “waits.” All but one is marked as “long wait” and one is marked as “very long wait.” Now reckon some were just released (Wanted, X-Files and Hancock) but the other three have been in the queue for quite some time now.

Add to this the fact that I could probably drive over to a redBox location and get all these right now.

So, NetFlix you really need to increase your inventory, at least for new releases, that is unless you want me to switch to a competitor. I have been fortunate thus so far to fend off the wife. However, I cannot win that battle for ever especially if I am going to have to wait until my “new releases” become “old releases” before I ever get them.
